Hello! My name is Hollie Gebhardt and this will be my fifteenth year
teaching at Black Hawk. Before coming to Black Hawk, I taught for 9 years
in LaHarpe, Illinois. I have three children, Tanner, Trenton, and Tyler.
Tanner is a junior at Iowa State University majoring in Animal Ecology, Trenton is a
senior at Burlington High School, and Tyler attends seventh grade at Edward Stone Middle School.
My husband's name is Mike. We have been married for 22 years.
I completed my undergraduate degree in elementary education at Western
Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois and I completed my master's degree
in reading and literacy through Walden University. It was a wonderful
experience and I learned a lot through both programs. I have also taught an
on-line graduate class through Upper Iowa University entitled Daily 5 and
Café to help other educators learn more about these two wonderful things
and I have written for the Daily Café website.
I love the beach and HOT weather!! I dream of it during those cold
winter months and discuss it with students often. This summer, my family stayed close to home
and did not travel due to the Corona Virus. We were lucky enough to take a short vacation during
spring break before COVID became too bad. We visited Ormond Beach in Florida. At the time,
Florida was having a very warm spring so we were able to enjoy the ocean every day.
I am looking forward to getting to know each one of my students this
year. I know we will be learning a lot and having fun along the way!

My Mission

My mission is for my students to become lifelong learners. In order to
accomplish this goal we will be learning a lot throughout the year and
having a lot of fun along the way. As your child's teacher, I want to give
my students the knowledge of our 3rd grade curriculum, but also the skills
they need in order continue learning throughout their lives.
